Brazilian companies eager to adopt Atlas Copco's new GA compressor
São Paulo, Brazil, 24 October, 2008. Atlas Copco presented its new energy-efficient GA compressors to 70 key customers today. The launch followed a well-attended press conference and internal introduction involving all South American Customer Centers. A stop in Atlas Copco’s worldwide compressor energy efficiency ‘road show’, the event was held near São Paulo, Brazil. The focus was on the energy savings offered by Atlas Copco’s new GA 90-160 kW range of oil-injected compressors, which includes the most energy-efficient model ever produced, the GA 160 VSD.
Among the participants were 70 Atlas Copco customers from several industries including mining, glass, construction, cement and many more. Some were impressed to discover just how much more energy-efficient new GA compressors were. Humberto Ramos, Senior Engineer of Minerconsult Engineering Company, says: “We can see in the new GA product the appreciation of energy efficiency and concern with the environment.”
“The current economic situation in Brazil has not influenced our investment decisions or the decision to launch the GA on this market,” says Carlos Frateschi, General Manager, Atlas Copco Brazil. “On the contrary, we are expecting strong sales of this compressor offering a real advantage in terms of energy consumption. Electrical consumption is a key post where industries look when they want to reduce waste and unnecessary expenses. And Atlas Copco with its innovative products is ideally positioned to offer them the solutions with a visible and direct impact on everyday running costs and ownership over time.”
Production of the new GA is being launched in the company’s production facility in São Paulo. The Specific Energy Requirement (SER) of the new Atlas Copco GA range (3.5 to 14 bar(e)) is best-in-class, using up to 11% less electricity than the previous GA models. The new GA 160 VSD offers the widest free air delivery (FAD) turndown range. All previous performance benchmarks have been broken with the new GA compressor range.
The road show began in Europe, and after the South American launch, it will continue to Asia. Atlas Copco Asian customers interested in participating should contact their local Atlas Copco Customer Center in order to request an invitation.
